Long before the Declaration of Independence, Ben Franklin was a scientist who was relentless in his pursuit of knowledge and was not afraid to take risks. However, in the early-1700s, new ideas were considered dangerous and met with extreme skepticism. Conflict, comedy, and dazzling special effects highlight this take of an American hero's struggle to tame nature's power - electricity.
Ben Franklin's Apprentice skillfully wraps together scientific inquiry, family conflict and early American history. It will grip young people's attention and grab their imagination before they know what hit them. They will see America when the usefulness of electricity was a ridiculous and bizarre idea. Until scientists like Benjamin Franklin dared to challenge the fears and misconceptions of the day.
Blending historical fiction with contemporary resonance, this thrilling play for families culminates on a stormy night with the crack of thunder, a blinding light and an experiment that changed the world!
This is a theatre experience guaranteed to make young people
THINK, PONDER, and WONDER about SCIENCE!!!
